For projects requiring exposed hand-hewn beams, we use specialized adzing and distressing techniques to remove soft grain from the beam surface — leaving the harder growth rings proud and creating the texture and character of hand-crafted, aged timber. Combined with recessed hardware detailing, this process produces exposed structural beams that read as architectural elements rather than construction components.
